The Tempest

William shakespeare

“Hell is empty and all the devils are here”

For twelve years Prospero, the rightful duke of Milan, has dwelt on an island after his brother Antonio betrayed him and cast him adrift in a small boat. For twelve years he has plotted revenge on those who overthrew him…

Classical language combines with live music and choral sea shanties to bring what is thought to be the bard’s final play to life. A tale of revenge, love and forgiveness, this is sure to delight audiences of all ages.

This is My Theatre return to Cholsey on Saturday, 19 June with The Tempest. Running time 90 minutes.

This is an outdoor event in the garden of Laurence Hall, Church Road, Cholsey OX10 9PP.

Covid-19 Regulations:

The Tempest will run without an interval at approximately 90 minutes (just under) to limit movement around venues.

Social distancing will operate at 1m+ in all venues. Capacities at all venues will be reduced to allow for safe distancing.

Hand sanitiser will be available for use at the entrance to all venues

You don’t need to print/show tickets, simply give the name the booking was made under at the door and you will be directed by our team

Under the latest government guidance, groups can be no larger than 6 and those sitting together (without social distancing measures) must be from the same household/support “bubble”.

All tickets purchased under a single booking will be considered 1 household/”bubble” so will be seated together without social distancing measures. If you are booking for those with whom you are not a household/”bubble” please make a separate booking/payment transaction or contact us with details of your socially distanced groupings. This will help us allocate seats on the day.

Children under 2 years are considered “Babes in arms” and will not require a ticket. They are considered part of your “6” however so please take this into consideration when booking tickets.

Those with a disability requiring a carer to attend performances please contact us with details. Whilst carers will not require a ticket they will still be considered part of your “bubble” so please take this into consideration when booking tickets.

As is the requirement for all public buildings, we ask our audience to wear a face covering for the duration. This may be a mask or visor. If you are unable to wear a face covering do let us know beforehand and we will make sure you’re seated at 2m social distancing if possible (we want you to be able to relax and enjoy the show safely!)

All venues will be systematically filled and emptied by our team. We ask that all audience follow directions given to make this as easy a process as possible. For venues operating one-way systems there will be signage to direct you.

Some venues will have facilities but the majority are without. For venues with toilets please be aware that access may be limited to ensure social distancing can be maintained.

Open-air performances will perform in all but the very worst weather. You will be contacted by our team if weather prevents a performance from happening

We have also updated our refund policy so if you are feeling unwell on the day of the performance, whilst we wish you well we’d rather you stayed away! Visit our T&C’s page for details on how you can either get a hassle free ticket swap or refund.

If changes to government guidelines mean the event is cancelled your tickets will be refunded.

Test and Trace-if we are alerted to a case of Covid-19 at any of our events customer details, provided at booking, will be used by the NHS to contact all audience members following government guidance on Test and Trace. If you do not want your details to be used in this manner please let us know.

Our team will be at all venues to assist audiences and help keep everyone safe so you can be confident in attending!
