“Last Friday evening I escaped the TV and went to ‘the pictures’ in the Great Hall. I was spared a car ride and a queue, dressed down, paid a pittance, indulged my sweet tooth from a well stocked bar, parked my camping chair in the front stalls, enjoying the sense of occasion, which as a movie buff of yore I remember vividly from my ‘local’, watched a first-rate film (The Duke starring the peerless Helen Mirren and Jim Broadbent) on the big screen with a lovely group of people, and was home in time for the 10 o’clock news! It could only have been bettered by a bigger turn-out. The CCDT is doing a great job setting this wonderful community cinema up for us.
